Chesaning Varsity Baseball traveled to Byron on Monday, May 17 and defeated the Eagles 6-0 in Game 1. Tyler Sager started on the mound for the Indians and went 6 2/3 innings before being pulled due to his pitch count. In the outing Sager gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 16 batters. With the win Sager improves his record to 4-1 in the MMAC and 5-1 overall. Logan Fulk came in to get the final out of the game. Fulk walked the first batter he faced and then struck out the next to close the game out.
At the plate the Indians were led by Fulk who had a huge night collecting 3 hits in the first game. Fulk was 3-5 and scored 2 runs. Weston Powell went 2-4, scored 1 run and had 2 RBI. Nate Marshall was also 2-4 with 1 RBI. Tyler Sager was 1-3 with 2 walks and scored 2 runs. Andrew Woodcock was 1-3 with 3 RBI. Eli Escamilla was 1-4 and scored 1 run. Nash Wendling and Zach Marzluft both went 1-4.
With the win Chesaning's record improves to 12-7-1 and 7-4 in the MMAC.
