Chesaning Varsity Baseball Defeats Birch Run 11-0 in Game 2

BIRCH RUN HIGH SCHOOL: 0
The Chesaning Indians defeated the Birch Run Panthers 11-0 in the 5 inning mercy rule game. Lucas Powell started on the mound for the Indians in game 2 and the junior right hander had a great performance. Powell pitched all 5 innings and allowed 0 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2 Panther batters. With the win Powell’s record improves to 1-1 on the season. Chesaning jumped out front right away in the bottom of the first inning. Powell led off the inning with a single and Nash Wendling followed that up with a single. Tyler Sager then legged out a triple on a ball hit deep to right center field, scoring both Powell and Wendling. Sager then scored on a wild pitch. To close out the scoring in the first inning, Keighan Stoddard hit a hard ground ball up the middle with 2 outs to score Brady Sager to make the score 4-0 after the first inning. The Indians added a run in the second and third innings and closed out the scoring with 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With the win the Indian’s record improves to 12-1-1 and 6-0 in the MMAC.
