Chesaning defeats Byron 10-0 in Game 1 to clinch the MMAC Championship

The Chesaning Indians welcomed the Byron Eagles to Chesaning on Monday night and won game 1 10-0. With the win, the Indians clinched the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference Championship. The Indians opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Lucas Powell reached on an error and Nash Wendling drove him in with a single to left field. Tyler Sager then drove in Wendling with a ground out to the shortstop to make the score 2-0 Chesaning. In the second inning Max Volk singled and scored when Adam Woodcock singled to center field. Powell then followed with a walk and Wendling drove in Woodcock and Powell with a double to right field to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Indians. Fulk then tripled in the third inning and scored on a wild pitch, pushing Chesaning’s advantage to 6-0. Woodcock then led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a double. Wendling followed with a walk and Woodcock was then driven by Tyler Sager. After Eli Escamilla was walked, Brady Sager hit a double, scoring Wendling and Escamilla to make the score 9-0 after four innings. Fulk led off the fifth inning with a double and scored the final run of the game when Lucas Rumisek drove him in with a double of his own. Tyler Sager toed the rubber for the Indians and threw his sixth no-hitter of the season. Sager went 5 innings and gave up 0 hits, 0 runs, walked 1 batter and struck out 14. With the win Sager improves his record to 9-0 on the season.

With the win the Indians improve to 13-0 in the MMAC and 23-3-1 overall.
