Chesaning opened the first round of district play with a 63-55 win over host Corunna High School. The Indians started the game off strong with a 16-7 first quarter behind 6 points from both Tyler Sager and Mason Struck. Chesaning pushed their lead to 17 (32-15) getting 10, 2nd quarter points from Reese Greenfelder. "I thought we were very sharp defensively in the first half. It was a good thing we were able to build a little lead because Corunna was hot in the second half." The Cavs outscored Chesaning 22-16 in the 3rd. Peyton Termeer ignited the Corunna offense with 4, 3rd quarter 3s. In the 4th the Indians were able to regain their composure to hold off Corunna and advance to the district semi-finals. "Corunna is a really solid team, they made it a battle for 32 minutes. We are very proud of our guys tonight. They were engaged mentally and physically and their unselfishness showed through as always." With the win Chesaning improves to 16-5 and returns to action this Wednesday when they take on Ovid-Elsie for a 7:00 tip at Corunna.
