The Chesaning Indians opened their Cross-Country season with a 2 - mile race hosted by Lansing Catholic. Leading the Indians was Freshman runner Jaxon Hemgesberg competing in his first varsity race. Hemgesberg earned a medal by finishing his race in 8th place with a time of 12:18. Hemgesberg was followed by Sophomore runner Cole Maier who finished in 12th place with a time of 12:29. Maier’s hard work this offseason paid off as his finishing time was nearly two full minutes faster than his finish in last year’s meet. Sophomore Jayce Hyde was the final competitor for the Indians, finishing with a time of 13:21. Hyde improved by over a minute and a half from his time last season. Chesaning’s next competition is on Thursday, August 24th @ Taymouth Township Park.
