The Chesaning Boys Track & Field Team traveled to Shepherd to compete in the MHSAA Regional meet.The Indians put together a complete team effort to secure the Regional Championship, earning 114 points to runner up Shepherd’s 87 points. The Indians scored points in 13/17 events in the meet, showing how well rounded our team has become. Senior Kaden Liebrock started the day off for the Indians with a strong showing in Pole Vault, earning a 2nd place finish along with a trip to the MHSAA State Meet. Junior Brenden Quackenbush followed Liebrock, by securing first place in the Discus by throwing a 17’ PR shortly after and joining him as a state qualifier. Quackenbush added to our strong field event performance by taking 1st place in Shot Put later in the meet. Running Event Finals saw the Indians thrive, with the 4x200 relay team (3rd place), the 4x100 relay team (2nd place), and the 4x400 relay teams (1st place) all securing places in the MHSAA State Finals meet. In the open events, Jaden James took home 1st place in the 400 meter dash with Levi Maier following shortly after with a 2nd place performance in the 800 meter run. Senior Isaac Zamora continued his impressive run of the hurdles, taking 1st place in the 300 meter hurdles and second place in the 110 High hurdles.
