In the first game of the 2020 JV football season, the Indians traveled to Montrose and came out victorious by a score of 51 - 27.
Offensively, Conner Qualls rushed 12 times for 71 yards and 3 two-point conversions. Qualls was 4 / 6 passing for 151 yards and 1 touchdown. Marvin Motley rushed 10 times for 129 yards and 4 touchdowns. Reese Greenfelder rushed 3 times for 15 yards, including a two-point conversion. Greenfelder had 2 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. R.J. Hafner rushed 4 times for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hafner also had 1 reception for 38 yards. Jordan Nixon was also on the receiving end a Qualls pass for 8 yards, and was 1 / 3 on P.A.T. attempts.
The Indians offensive was assisted all night by a turnover-minded defense that forced and recovered two fumbles and also intercepted the Rams air attack. The first fumble was forced and recovered by Reese Greenfelder. Next, Ben Fowler forced a fumble recovered by Vito Maniaci. Lastly, Bryson Geitman came up with an interception and return for 12-yards.
Next week, the JV Indians host Ovid-Elsie on Thursday, October 1st for an early 4:30 p.m. contest.
