Chesaning JV Football defeats Montrose 19-16

MONTROSE HILL-MCCLOY HIGH SCHOOL: 16
In dramatic fashion the Chesaning JV Football team defeated Montrose 19-16 by scoring a touchdown with 26 seconds left in the game. Chesaning opened the scoring in the 2nd quarter when Max Volk connected with Brady Sager on a 22 yard touchdown pass. Sager then made the PAT and the score stood at 7-0 at halftime. Montrose scored first in the 2nd half when they scored in the 3rd quarter with a 3 yard touchdown run and added a 2 point conversion to make the score 8-7. Chesaning answered in the 3rd quarter with a 24 yard touchdown run by Marvin Motley. The PAT was no good leaving the score at 13-8 in favor of the Indians. Montrose once again took the lead late in the game scoring on a 1 yard TD run and converted the 2 point conversion making the score 16-13 in favor of Montrose. The Indians then took over at the 20 yard line with 2 minutes and 46 seconds left in the game. Then with 26 seconds left in the game, Marvin Motley finished the 80 yard drive with a 6 yard touchdown run. The 2 point conversion was no good making the score 19-16. Mikey Clover then intercepted a pass on the last play of the game to seal the victory for the Indians.
Leading the way offensively for Chesaning were:
Max Volk was 8-12 passing for 111 yards and 1 touchdown. Volk also rushed 4 times for 5 yards.
Brady Sager was 1-2 passing for 8 yards. Sager also caught 2 passes for 26 yards and 1 touchdown. Sager was also 1-2 on extra point attempts.
Marvin Motley rushed 12 times for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Cal Frasier had 2 rushes for 10 yards.
Adam Woodcock had 2 rushes for 6 yards. Woodcock also had 3 catches for 32 yards.
Jordan Nixon had 4 catches for 61 yards, including a 40 yard reception on the last drive.

With the win the Indians improve to 3-1. Their next game is Thursday, September 23 at Ovid-Elsie High School.
