The Chesaning Indians hosted the Ovid-Elsie Marauders and remained undefeated at home with a 20-7 victory and improved their record to 4-3 on the season. A draining physical run game and a stout defense were keys to victories for the Indians. Leading the Indians backfield was Chase Lopez with 11 carries for 77 yards. Damian Obuchowski also had a very good game with 37 yards rushing and a catch on third down for 29 yards that led to a Chesaning touchdown a few plays later. Griffin Sulen and Logan Vogelaar also contributed in the rushing game, each scoring a touchdown. Vogelaar also connected on a pass to Daniel Tijernia for a 15 yard touchdown in the contest. The defense shined as well forcing five turnovers with two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Forcing those turnovers with interceptions was Vogelaar with what should have been a pick six on the first offensive series for the Marauders before a flag called the touchdown back, but the turnover stood. Pit Brenner also came away with a huge interception where he jumped the route and ended Ovid-Elsie’s chances of a comeback. Gavin Welch, Peyton Heise, and Collin Brabant all recovered fumbles and helped a strong defensive line take over this game. In the contest Brabant also posted a sack and so did Sulen. The team had 6 tackles for a loss with Lopez, Sullen, Obuchowski, Welsh each having one and Brabant had two. Leading tacklers for the Indians were Vogelaar with six, Heise with five, while Brabant, Obuchowski, Sulen and Lopez each had four. The Indians look to finish the season undefeated at home as they host the Durand Railroaders.
