The MHSAA Division 2 District Championship game was played Friday night with Chesaning the #2 seed playing the #1 seed, Ovid-Elsie.

The Lady Indians started the game with great effort but could not get the offense going and only took 5 shots in the first quarter. O-E led 14-2 going into the 2nd quarter.  Defensive pressure from O-E led to 23 turnovers by Chesaning on the night. The team was able to get the offense going a bit in the second quarter scoring 8 points, but went into the locker room with a 25-10 deficit at the half.

O-E came out and had another big quarter outscoring us 16-11 in the 3rd quarter.  The girls kept battling and made me proud as they played hard until the end and played pretty even in the 4th quarter with O-E gaining a 12-10 scoring advantage.  The final score was 53-29.

With the loss, Chesaning ended its season 16-6 and finished 3rd in the MMAC conference with a record of 10-4.

Lilly Skaryd 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals

Ava Devereaux, 8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists

Avery Butcher 4 points, 5 rebounds

Charley Mahan 4 points, 3 rebounds

Kennedy McAlpine 3 points, 2 steals

Hannah Oakes 2 points, 1 steal

Hannah Cooper 3 rebounds

I want to thank our 5 seniors for leading us with pride this season and their contributions to our program..  It was an honor to coach this team and I look forward to next season with 6 returning players that will lead a team to watch out for!
