The Lady Indians were in district play Wednesday at Ovid-Elsie High School.  Our opponent was the Owosso Trojans who came out in the first quarter and jumped to an early 5-0 lead before our defense forced some turnovers and we got 6 quick points to end the first quarter up 6-5.  The second quarter was evenly played with Chesaning scoring 12 to Owosso's 11 points.  At the half we were up 18-16.  

We did not shoot the ball well all night and had too many turnovers and fell behind 25-23 in the 3rd quarter.  The fourth quarter saw Owosso's lead grow to as many as 7 points before a key steal and bucket by Kylie Morse sparked us with under 1 minute to play.  Ava Devereaux grabbed an offensive rebound and got the put back basket with 11 seconds to go to give us the lead and the win 34-33.

I can say enough about the team and their heart tonight.  We had some team members not feeling 100% but they gave it their all and got the victory.  Our bench gave us life and helped keep everyone focused.  

Lilly Skaryd had a double double tonight with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Chesaning Indians will play Ovid-Elsie Friday night for the district championship.
