Chesaning Black team started the season in Montrose against the Rams. They had trouble shaking off nerves in the first game and fell 18-25, 20-25 and 19-25 in the three sets. Improving on passing and serving in each set and building confidence. Leading the Indians in serving was Brooklynn Hinojosa with 4pts 1 ace, Lexie Woodke 3pts 1 ace, Ella Catterfeld 3 pts 1 ace, Harmony Lopez 2pts 1 ace, Lydia Ruhl 2pts, Ciara Batisa 1pt 1 ace, Adryauna Chant 1pt, AnnaBella Sternberg 1pt 1 ace, Mckenzie Stewart 1pt.

Batisa had 2 kills and 2 serve receptions. Sophiea Brack had 1 serve reception along with Catterfeld, Chant and Stewart picking up good serve receptions. Overall we had some pretty good volleys and we will work on cleaning up a few things as the season progresses for the Black team.

Our Orange Team came out hot serving. We took the first set 25-12, lost a close second set 24-26 but came back and won the match with a 25-11 dominating performance in the third set.

Leading the hot serves was Layla Horton with 12pts with 7 aces. Following her was Talia Flathau 7pts 4 aces, Madison Blaska with 6 pts and 2 aces, Jaylynn Giesken 6pts 5 aces, Harper Conklin 5pts, Summer Jidas 2pts 1 ace, Zoey Lange 2pts, 2 aces, Cami Wolfe 2pts and Annie Dorey  and Nakiya Escamilla each with 1pt.

Jidas had 2 kills along with 2 serve receptions. Blaska and Horton recorded 2 serve receptions, Conklin 2 serve receptions, Dorey, Escamilla, and Chloe VanBuren each with 1 serve reception.

The Orange team hustled and made plays that most girls would not have been able to get. These 8th graders will be exciting to watch grow this year. Go Indians!
