Girls Varsity Track 3rd in MMAC

The Chesaning Lady Indians finished their season with a tough fought 3rd place finish at the MMAC Conference Championship meet, hosted by Ovid-Elsie. Chesaning earned 156 points, narrowly behind New Lothrop’s 158 and Ovid-Elsie who scored 177. The Lady Indians showed a lot of growth this season, including many personal best performances in both individual and relay events. This year we showed we have what it takes to compete with the best, and will be looking to make our mark next season. Freshman Gwen Maike and Sophomore Makayla Reiber will represent our team on Saturday, June 3rd at the MHSAA State Finals Meet. Earning Conference Honors include:

The Chesaning Lady Indians hosted their final meet of the season, finishing tied for 7th place with Hemlock at the MHSAA Division 3 Region 30 meet. The Indians scored 33 points in the meet, facing one of the toughest regional assignments in Division 3. Chesaning qualified Sophomore Makayla Reiber in High Jump for the 2nd consecutive season. Reiber reached the State Qualifying standard of 4’-11” while securing a 2nd place finish. Joining Reiber as a State Qualifier is Freshman Gwen Maike in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Maike set a new Personal Best time of 17.11 which bettered her season best time by nearly ¼ of a second. Maike placed 3rd in the Region, showing her continued growth by improving by over 3 seconds in the event this season.All Regional Performers include:

Chesaning Girls Track & Field completed their regular season MMAC meet by hosting Mt. Morris, Lakeville, and Ovid-Elsie. Chesaning narrowly fell to Ovid-Elsie in conference standings, finishing with 66 points to Ovid-Elsie’s 71 points. The Lady Indians finished the regular season MMAC in 3rd place behind New Lothrop and Ovid-Elsie with some tough fought competition. Chesaning will look to finish their MMAC final standings at the MMAC Championship meet hosted by Ovid-Elsie on Tuesday, May 23rd. The Regular season record and the MMAC Championship meet combined determine final conference standings.

The Chesaning Girls Track & Field Team traveled to Corunna to compete in their True Team Classic. Unlike traditional scoring meetings, this meet tests both the talent and depth of a team as every single competitor earns points for their team. Chesaning took a 2nd place finish in the small school division, earning 499.5 points, behind only Corunna’s 604 points.

Chesaning defeated all four visiting teams, including adding a win to their conference standing by defeating Montrose (first time competing against a team goes towards conference record). rainy Chesaning Girls Track & Field traveled to St. Charles to compete in a Quad meet with Coleman and Merrill in cold, rainy conditions. Chesaning Girls took a 2nd place finish with 58 points. St. Charles took first place with 75 points. Coleman finished 3rd with 26 points and Merrill took 4th with 4 points. Top performers include:

The Chesaning Girls Track & Field team hosted the 2nd MMAC meet of the season, putting their season conference record at 5-1. Chesaning defeated Mt. Morris while narrowly falling to New Lothrop. The Lady Indians return to action next week with a busy schedule, traveling to St. Charles on Monday, Home on Wednesday, and Corunna on Friday. Come on out to support your Lady Indians!

Chesaning hosted their first home meet of the season with a tri-meet against visiting Ovid-Elsie and St. Charles. St. Charles finished in 1st place with 75 points, Chesaning in 2nd with 57 points, and Ovid-Elsie in 3rd place with 43 points.

Chesaning’s Girls Track and Field Team traveled to compete in the Doug Steward Invitational hosted by St. Louis High School. The Lady Indians took home an 8th place finish out of 17 total teams. During competition we established new season bests or personal bests on the way to earning 26 points along the way. Medalists for the Indians include:

Girls Varsity Track 4th @ Davison Invitational

Chesaning Girls traveled to Davison to compete in their Shake Off the Rust Invitational. The Lady Indians took 4th place with 100 points, finishing behind Caro(125), St. Charles(125), and Dryden (116). This was our first time competing in Davison, and gave our girls team an excellent chance to showcase our talent. It was great getting an opportunity to compete against teams that we do not generally compete against. We came away very encouraged with our performance that showed we have a strong team this season.

The Chesaning Track & Field Girls team competed in their first meet of the season at the Saginaw Valley State University Invitational. The lady Indians faced tough competition in every event and demonstrated that they have the ability to compete with the best. This was an excellent first showing for the team to kick off the season.
