Middle School Fall Sports Practice Schedule
Middle School (7th and 8th Grade) Fall Athletic Practice Start Dates and Locations Fall sports for Middle School (Grades 7 - 8) aged students begin at varying times throughout the fall based on the first date of competition. The practice schedule for the first day of fall practices for each sport offered to our students can be found below: Basketball (Girls, 7th and 8th Grade)8/26/24, 3 PM - 4:30 PM, Chesaning Middle School Gym Cross Country (Boys/Girls; 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade)8/19/24, 3 PM - 4:30 PM, meet in the front of Chesaning Middle School Football (7th and 8th Grade)8/19/24, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM at Chesaning High School, Grass Practice Field Sideline Cheer (7th and 8th Grade)8/20/24, 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM, HS Cheer Room All students wishing to participate in one of the sports listed above must have a completed physical form on file with the Athletic Office for the 2024-25 school year. Due to Covid-19 Guidelines, the school is not allowed to provide water to athletes at practices or events. Athletes need to bring water/drinks with them to practice! They are also not allowed to share water with their fellow athletes. It is still quite warm in the fall so be sure to bring plenty with you!

Boys Varsity Football vs. Carrollton High School
Boys Varsity FootballThe Chesaning Indians football team ended the regular season with a 52-0 win over Carrollton. Max Volk had a big game with 174 pass yards and 4 passing touchdowns. Landon Qualls played his best game of the season with 3 total touchdowns. Brayden Florian had 131 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Cal Frasier led the way on defense with 14 tackles and Blake Hoerner was right behind him with 13 tackles. Adam Woodcock had a defensive touchdown from a fumble recovery. The Indians finish the season with a record of 9-0 and look forward to playing in the playoffs next week. Girls Varsity Cross CountryThe Lady Indians Cross-Country team completed their season with a strong 6th place finish, one of the team's top overall finishes. Chesaning was able to advance two runners to State Finals in an incredibly tough field. Freshman Leah Theile finished 17th overall with a new Personal Best time of 21:47. Boys Varsity Cross CountryThe Chesaning Boys Cross-Country team completed their season by placing 8th in the MHSAA D3 meet hosted by DeWitt. We were pleased to see sophomore Jaxon Hemgesberg earn a qualifying spot at the State Finals meet by finishing as the #5 individual runner with a new Personal Best time of 17:30 and coming in 17th overall. Hemgesberg was followed by the strong running of Junior Cole Maier who crossed the finish line in 18:20. Boys Varsity FootballThe Chesaning varsity football team beat Durand 39-36 in a thrilling 4 quarter event. The team trailed at half but continued to fight until the end. Brayden Florian had an outstanding game with 203 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Max Volk had one touchdown pass to Adam Woodcock. Cal Frasier led all defense with 16 tackles. Quinton Everett had 15 tackles and Landon Qualls had 9 tackles. The team is now 8-0 and will play the final regular season game at home next Friday against Carrollton. Boys Junior Varsity Football10-17-2024On Thursday your Chesaning Indians hosted the Durand Railroaders and lost the contest with a final score of 34-14 and fell to 4-4 on the season. Defensively, the Indians posted some season highs in tackles with Griffin Sullen coming away with 13 tackles, one of which was for a loss. Also making stops on the defensive end consistently were Porter Greenfelder with nine and one for a loss, Peyton Heise who posted 9 tackles as well and a fumble recovery, and lastly Damian Obuchowski with eight. Also posting defensive stats for your Indians were Clayton Watson (6), Daniel Tijernia (6), Ryder Liebrock (5), Gavin Welch (5), Hunter Brabaw (4), Chase Lopez (4), Will Pierce (3), Lucas Harris (1), and Tate Lapine (1). Offensively Dylon James led the team passing with 77 yards through the air, and 6 yards on the ground while also getting a rushing touchdown. Girls Junior Varsity VolleyballIn a competitive match against New Lothrup, Chesaning's JV volleyball team faced a tough challenge, losing all three sets with scores of 13-25, 14-25, and a hard-fought 23-25 in the final game. Leigha Schnieder stood out with her impressive sets that led to kills, while Chloe Fath topped the team in kills from the outside. Jordan Wendling excelled in digs, and Brianna Pierce contributed significantly with her serving. Despite the losses, the team showed resilience and teamwork throughout the match.

Boys Varsity FootballThe Chesaning Indians traveled to 6-0 Ovid Elsie and ended the night with a 23-7 victory over the Marauders. Brady Sager had another impressive game with one receiving touchdown and an interception for a touchdown. Max Volk had 119 yards passing with one touchdown. The defense was led by Cal Frasier with 7 tackles. Brayden Florian and John Talbot each had interceptions. Brayden Florian made 3 field goals with one of them tying the 3rd longest in MHSAA history at 57 yards. The Indians are now 7-0 and are in the driver seat to the league this year. The team will travel to Durand next week. Boys Junior Varsity Football10-10-2024The Chesaning Indians hosted the Ovid-Elsie Marauders and remained undefeated at home with a 20-7 victory and improved their record to 4-3 on the season. A draining physical run game and a stout defense were keys to victories for the Indians. Leading the Indians backfield was Chase Lopez with 11 carries for 77 yards. Damian Obuchowski also had a very good game with 37 yards rushing and a catch on third down for 29 yards that led to a Chesaning touchdown a few plays later. Griffin Sulen and Logan Vogelaar also contributed in the rushing game, each scoring a touchdown. Vogelaar also connected on a pass to Daniel Tijernia for a 15 yard touchdown in the contest. The defense shined as well forcing five turnovers with two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Forcing those turnovers with interceptions was Vogelaar with what should have been a pick six on the first offensive series for the Marauders before a flag called the touchdown back, but the turnover stood. Girls Varsity Cross CountryThe Chesaning Girls Cross-Country team competed in their final MMAC competition of the season. This season was closer than any for the girls teams. Chesaning and Ovid-Elsie came in tied for the conference record as Ovid-Elsie claimed victory in the first Jamboree, with Chesaning taking the win in the second Jamboree. The winner of the final Jamboree would determine conference champion. Chesaning and Ovid-Elsie had a tough back and forth race, ending the meet in a 40-40 tie, with the tiebreaker going to the talented runners of Ovid-Elsie. The 2nd place conference finish is the highest ever MMAC finish for the Lady Indians. Seven runners recorded seven Personal Records during the race. Brooke Springer, one of our most improved runners, earned MMAC Honorable Mention for her performance in the three Jamborees. Boys Varsity Cross CountryThe Chesaning Boys Cross-Country team completed their final MMAC competition of the season @ Uncle John’s Cider Mill. Chesaning finished 5th in the meet, led by Jaxon Hemgesberg and Jobriel Octubre. Three athletes set new Personal Records during the race. The Indians finished in 6th place in the MMAC after averaging finishes from all three MMAC Jamborees. Jobriel Octubre and Cole Maier earned MMAC Honorable mentions for their efforts in conference competition.
