Chesaning JV Indians got their 5th win of the season by defeating Mt. Morris 48-40 Thursday night in a fast-paced close contest. Mt. Morris had a 1 point advantage (14-13) at the end of the first quarter, but the Indians had a big second quarter (scoring 17 points to the Panthers' 12) which gave the Indians a narrow 4 point (30-26) halftime lead. We had a just a 6 point lead at the end of the third, and won the game by 8. We sustained a good defensive effort from beginning to end, and overall, the Indians did a nice job of handling the Panthers' full court pressure. It's the first time this season we've faced that type of pressure throughout the game, and it's great to see the improvement the team is making as the season progresses. Eli Escamilla led the team with 19 points, 6 rebounds, a team-high 10 steals, and 3 blocks. Gavin Birchmeier also had 6 rebounds and Conner Qualls led in assists with 4.
