Chesaning JV boys got a 34-23 win over visiting New Lothrop Thursday to bring our season record to 8-0. It was a defensive battle in which the Indians held a slim 2 point (18-16) lead at halftime. The Indians gradually pulled away in the second half by practicing better patience (working the ball more) against New Lothrop's zone and grabbing defensive rebounds to allow only one NL shot per possession, which helped hold the Hornets to just 7 points the entire second half. It was a good learning experience for the Indians in how to adjust to certain situations depending on what the opponent does in the game. Evan list led in scoring with 7 points followed closely by Eli Escamilla and Conner Qualls who each scored 6. Eli Escamilla also hauled down 13 rebounds and had a team-high 4 steals. Landon Soule led the team with 5 deflections. The guys are doing a good job! It's too bad it's a short season (it will be winding down next week with only 3 remaining games on our schedule). But we are very thankful we got to play at all!
