Chesaning Varsity Swimming earns multiple podium places at ISC

Chesaning Indians earned a spot on the top 8 podium in every swim event at the Boys Independent Swim Conference Championship.  On Saturday, March 13th, the Indians traveled to Standish to compete against the other six league schools.  Chesaning went into the meet tied for first with Garber and Oscoda for league wins and losses.  5-1.  The Indians knew that their small but fierce coed team of 12 would need to earn top places to earn more points than the other teams with twice the amount of athletes to earn points.  The Indians fought hard and placed fourth overall.  Chesaning made a strong presence on the podium with 17 top eight finishes throughout the meet. 

200 Medley Relay: 6th place 2:04.08 with the team of Gwen Lapine, Kaden Liebrock, Karlie Lewis, Levi Maier

200 Freestyle: 3rd Drew Beckman 2:04.79 PR,  13th Caleb Chalco 2:22.30 PR

200 Individual Medley: 7th Sophie Grover 2:38.28 PR,  8th Kate Lewis 2:43.24

50 Freestyle: 3rd Liebrock 25.06, 8th Corbin Walker 26.16 PR, 12th Bryson Geitman 27.85 PR, 25th Katherine Diener 43.79 

100 Butterfly: 4th Karlie Lewis 1:08.92, 5th Sophie Grover 1:09.54, 7th Kate Lewis 1:14.54

100 Freestyle:  6th Lapine 58.05, 7th Maier 58.27, 12th Chalco 1:01.51, 14th Walker 1:01.70 PR, 19th Geitman 1:08.09 PR

500 Freestyle: 2nd Drew Beckman 5:43.76 PR

200 Freestyle Relay: 5th 1:44.87  team of Beckman, Maier, Walker, Liebrock, 7th 1:53.96 team of Chalco, Geitman, Lewis, Grover

100 Backstroke: 7th Lapine 1:10.09, 12th Karlie Lewis 1:18.53 PR, 24th Diener 1:57.97 PR

100 Breaststroke: 3rd Liebrock 1:13.36 PR, 10th Maier 1:20.89

400 Freestyle Relay:  4th 4:01.10 team of Chalco, Walker, Lapine, Beckman, 9th 4:25.22 team of Geitman, Lewis, Lewis, Grover

The Indians had a strong finish to the end of their season.  Covid caused the team to have a shorter season and one with a number of restrictions but the Indians worked hard and stayed strong.  Saying goodbye to four amazing seniors is sad but the team is grateful for their leadership and dedication to the team.  Thank you to all that have supported the team throughout the season.  Go Indians!
