The Chesaning Varsity Baseball team opened Mid-Michigan Activities Conference play with an 8-0 win over visiting Ovid-Elsie. Tyler Sager took the mound for the Indians and put his name in the MHSAA record books with his performance. In the game Sager recorded 20 outs via the strikeout. In the history of the MHSAA there has been 1 pitcher who has recorded 22 strikeouts and 5 others who have recorded 21 strikeouts in a 7 inning game. Sager is now tied with several others with 20 strikeouts in a game. During the shutout win, Sager allowed 3 hits, no walks and earned his 2nd victory on the season. Chesaning scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning, 2 runs in the 5th and added 1 more run in the 6th inning for complete the scoring at 8-0. 

At the plate the Indians were led by Sager who went 2-3, with a home run and a double, 1 walk, 2 RBI’s and scored 1 run. Eli Escamilla went 2-3, with a triple, and scored 2 runs. Lucas Powell went 2-4, with a double, and scored 1 run. Adam Woodcock went 1-3, scored 1 run and had 1 RBI. Nash Wendling went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s.

With the win the Indians improve to 1-0 in the MMAC and 3-0 overall.
