The Chesaning Indians hosted the Birch Run Panthers on Thursday and won the first game 6-0. Tyler Sager was great on the mound in game 1, as Sager threw his 3rd no-hitter of the season to help lead Chesaning past the Panthers. On the night Sager allowed 0 hits, 0 runs, struck 14 and walked 1 batter over 7 innings. With the win, Sager’s record improves to 5-0. The Indians got things moving in the second inning when Max Volk drove in Brady Sager to make the score 1-0. Chesaning added another run in the 3rd inning to make the score 2-0 when Keighan Stoddard stole 3rd base and advanced home on an errant throw by the catcher. The big hit of the game came in the 5th inning when Chesaning had the bases loaded with 2 outs and the score was still 2-0. Lucas Rumisek came to the plate and drove a ball deep to right center field for a bases clearing double. The 3 RBI hit increased Chesaning’s lead to 5-0. The Indians finished the scoring in the sixth inning when Nash Wendling singled to right field to drive in Adam Woodcock.

Offensively the Indians were led by Nash Wendling who was 2-3 with 1 walk and 1 RBI. Lucas Rumisek had the only other Indian hit going 1-2 with 1 walk and 3 RBI’s.

With the win the Indian’s record improves to 11-1-1 and 6-0 in the MMAC.
